Inclusion at Thornton Dale Primary School:
At Thornton Dale Primary School we celebrate every child's individual strengths, we know no two learners are alike. We provide an enriching curriculum full of opportunities for children with different skills, interests and talents in which to thrive and experience success. At Thornton Dale, we provide children with a secure and caring environment, and do everything we possibly can to help them to flourish as a unique individual.
OUR VISION and VALUES
To support and enable all learners to be happy, inspired and nurtured in an accessible environment, enabling them to develop confidence, resilience and skills to achieve beyond their expectations.
Our SEND HUB Strategy offer is tailored to the needs of children in our school and aims to:
- Ensure our children have access to high quality, dedicated SENDCo time.
- Develop practices regarding SEND and ensure consistent assessment and stages of SEND in line with the graduated approach.
- Enable increased opportunity for collaboration and sharing of skills and resources for the benefit of our children and school, linked to the continual growth and development of specific expertise, to ensure we can effectively support the full range of SEND.
- Enable continuous Trust wide SEND training for our staff and personalised training for our school.
- Provide a local provision which maximises the benefit of the skills and expertise across the Trust.

Admissions
Reception admissions:
Thornton Dale Primary School admits children into its Reception.
Parents considering sending their children to the school are encouraged to contact the Headteacher well in advance before the child is due to start Reception, to view school, speak to staff and see our wonderful provision. We are a supportive, nurturing school, who values and cares for our children and community.
Formal admission arrangements are through North Yorkshire County Council. The school is unable to allocate places directly.
For further details on how places are allocated, please see our Admissions Policy for the forthcoming academic year. This policy includes details of the criteria applied if an over subscription of Published Admission Numbers occurs.
Admission into other year groups:
For pupils entering school at any other time to different year groups please contact the Headteacher in the first instance who will decide if the class requested has capacity to admit additional pupils. Our pupil admission number for each year group varies each year. Should the school be oversubscribed applications should be made to North Yorkshire County Council, who will then follow the admissions policy.
Catchment area:
Thornton Dale Primary School also admits pupils from outside its traditional catchment area. Places are available throughout the school and parents interested should, in the first instance, contact the Headteacher. At present some pupils are from out of the area. Transport is provided for pupils from the traditional catchment area outside Thornton Dale.
